Why I Created My CE Courses

Sep 17, 2026

There was a season in my career as a somatic therapist and LCSW when I was dancing close with burnout.

I was behind on my notes. I felt like I couldn't do enough to make a real difference in the suffering my clients were trying to heal from. I carried a heaviness in my own body during sessions, absorbing more than I knew how to process or release. I knew something needed to change, and I knew it had to start with me.

Turning Toward Myself First

I started dialing up two things at the same time: my self-care practices, and the boundaries in my daily life that would actually let those practices take root.

I began tracking my own nervous system regulation more closely during sessions, not just my clients'. I started bringing somatic tools into the room, tools rooted in polyvagal theory that could help both my clients and me shift state and move the energy that naturally builds as we process trauma and struggle together. Somatic therapy gave me real, tangible solutions to work with, not just theory to sit with.

That shift rippled outward. It inspired me to deepen my own home practice of yoga and meditation. I started saying no to things I used to automatically say yes to. I softened my own people pleasing tendencies, the ones that had quietly been feeding my therapist burnout for years. I began spacing out the time between clients so I could genuinely care for my nervous system after holding so much for other people, session after session.

What I Learned, I Started Teaching

These are the same tools I've now been teaching in my CE courses for over 10 years, building trauma-informed somatic training for therapists and social workers who are doing this same hard, meaningful work.

Every season, I hear from students in my nervous system training how these courses have helped them find their way through their own burnout recovery, and helped their clients move further along in trauma recovery. That feedback loop is part of what keeps me doing this work.

This is why I do it. To help people heal from trauma, and to help therapists avoid burning out in the process of holding that healing for others. This work is hard. We need each other in it. That's why I create these courses, and why I'm so excited to share them again this fall.

What's Coming This Fall

Next Friday, September 25th, I'm teaching The Body Informed Clinician, a live somatic therapy CE course. You'll walk away with science backed, heart centered tools you can bring into your work with clients the very next day, tools meant to help all of us be more buoyant in the waters of our world today.

This fall, I'm also offering The Resilient Clinician, a hands-on 4-week cohort for mental health therapists who want to go deeper into trauma-informed care, somatic body therapy, and burnout prevention. Together, both trainings offer 10 combined ASWB approved ACE CE credits as part of my ongoing online CE course series for therapists.

Recordings will be available for those who can't attend live, but CEs require live attendance for both trainings.
